CRP Panel Design & Testing(D)

Description

In an electrical power system network, the generated electrical energy is transmitted and distributed in various voltage levels.

At each stage of the power system network, for control and monitoring of feeders, Substations are designed. The substations at the generation level are called as generating substations. The substations at transmission level are called as transmission substations. And, at the distribution level are called as distribution substations. A substation will do switching and monitoring of the power circuits. A typical substation will contain a SwitchYard and a control room. All power components (CT/PT/CB/Iso/ESw…etc) will be placed in the Switch-Yard as per the single line diagrams. All control panels, protection panels, and computer-based systems (SCADA) are located in the control rooms.

CRP stands for Control and Relay Panel. These panels provide control and protection to the respective feeders like Line, Transformer, Bus coupler, Bus-bar etc. Major functions of the CRP panels are controlling, monitoring and protection. The Control functions will be done by the control switches like TNC switch, L/R switch …etc. The monitoring functions will be done by the indicating lamps/semaphores, meters and bay control units. The protection functions are done by the intelligent electronic devices (IED's), electrostatic relays, and electromagnetic relays.

In this course, training will be provided on a typical Control & Protection panels (CRP) of a single bus HV-substation.  On completion of this training, the trainee will get knowledge on CRP panel’s technical specification, key equipments used, components selection and engineering of functional circuits’ design (control, metering & protection), And a task of line feeder CRP panel of single bus HV-substation will be given to participants to analyze/engineer themselves.
